Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and X, thrust himself into the spotlight yet again with the release of a video of him firing several rounds from an assault rifle and claiming that he has an “arsenal of weapons.”
“I have an arsenal of weapons, most of which I bought in California before they changed the law to make it impossible to do so,” Musk wrote. “I’ve hip-fired a 50 cal while walking. Might have the video somewhere.”
He then shared a slow-motion clip featuring him firing a powerful Barrett .50-caliber sniper rifle in an open grassy field on his social media platform X.
The caption, “Hip-firing my Barrett 50 cal,” accompanied the video, adding an unsettling tone to the post showcasing Musk’s unconventional approach to engaging with firearms.
In less than 24 hours, the video has amassed over 66 million views, sparking a storm of opinions, with many cheering the post and others questioning the appropriateness of such a demonstration..
“That’s sick!” one user wrote.
“How sad. You could have been a hero, yet here you are,” another wrote.
“WARNING: This is a liberal trigger post,” another opined.

Just for the record, my boots are 20 years old and my hat is ten years old.
And I have an arsenal of weapons, most of which I bought in California before they changed the law to make it impossible to do so.
I’ve hip-fired a 50 cal while walking. Might have the video somewhere.
