Former President Donald Trump is facing intense mockery on social media following his baffling comments while surveying the destruction from Hurricane Helene in Valdosta, Georgia.
“The devastation wrought by this storm is incredible,” he said, before diving into sheer absurdity: “It’s so extensive, nobody thought this would be happening, especially now it’s so late in the season for the hurricanes.”
This statement starkly contradicts established facts. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with the peak occurring in late summer when conditions are most favorable for storm development.
Critics were quick to point out the irony, given Trump’s repeated denials of climate change, as if he were completely disconnected from the realities of the season.

Adding fuel to the fire, Trump also falsely claimed that President Biden hadn’t spoken with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp about the natural disaster.
Biden swiftly refuted this, saying, “Let me get this straight: He’s lying, and the governor told him he’s lying.”
Kemp also debunked Trumps claims, by confirming that he spoke with Biden both the night before and earlier today, expressing his gratitude for the federal government’s support.
“The president just called me yesterday afternoon and I missed him and called him right back and he just said ‘Hey, what do you need?’ And I told him, you know, we’ve got what we need, we’ll work through the federal process,” Kemp emphasized. “He offered if there are other things we need just to call him directly, which I appreciate that.”
This back-and-forth only amplified the ridicule directed at Trump.
