President Joe Biden issued a fierce rebuke against former President Donald Trump for his reckless and false assertion that the Biden administration is neglecting Hurricane Helene victims in Republican areas.
The storm wreaked havoc across the southeastern U.S., especially in North Carolina, where communities were left reeling. On Truth Social, Trump baselessly accused Biden of deliberately withholding aid, claiming the administration is “going out of their way” to ignore Republican regions.
However, the facts tell a different story. Biden swiftly approved disaster declarations for both Carolinas and Florida, enabling victims to access vital federal resources. FEMA and other federal agencies have been actively involved in providing necessary support to affected areas.
During a press briefing, Biden didn’t hold back when addressing Trump’s claims.
“He is lying,” the president asserted, cutting off a reporter’s question. “Let me get you straight. He’s lying and the governor told him he was lying. I’ve spoken to the governor and spent time with him. And he told me he’s lying. I don’t know why he does this.”
Biden condemned Trump’s words as “irresponsible,” emphasizing that denying aid to any part of North Carolina would be not just morally indefensible but politically catastrophic, especially with Vice President Kamala Harris facing a tough electoral battle in the state.
