A report on Tuesday revealed that Attorney General William Barr personally gave orders to law enforcement to remove protestors from Washington D.C. in order for Donald Trump to be able to walk to St. John’s Church for a photo-op.

According to The Washington Post, a Justice Department official confirmed that Barr was responsible for giving those orders.

This contradicts initial statements from a White House spokesperson who had denied that the protesters were moved to accommodate the president.

“The perimeter was expanded to help enforce the city’s 7 p.m. curfew in the same area where rioters attempted to burn down one of our nation’s most historic churches the night before,” Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere told ABC News. “Protesters were given three warnings by the U.S. Park Police.”
