Country star Chris Stapleton said this week that there was a “broad awakening” in the country after protests started breaking out after the killing of George Floyd.
During an interview with CBS, Stapleton expressed his support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
“You know, I thought we were living in a different country. And that’s 100 percent real,” the singer told CBS This Morning in an interview that aired Tuesday. “I feel like the country that I thought we were living in was a myth.”
“Do I think Black lives matter? Absolutely … I don’t know how you could think they don’t,” he added.
Trump supporters didn’t take Stapleton’s support for Black lives well. Some of them even called BLM a “terrorist” organization.
