Donald Trump’s latest talking point is that having higher COVID-19 cases is not a bad thing because the death rate is not as high. But that isn’t the case at all. As scientists and doctors noted before, the death tolls for coronavirus will not show on paper as the cases go up, but will take time for that to happen.

Now, that’s exactly what’s happening in Florida. Besides being the world’s epicenter for infections, Florida has now reached a record number of deaths for a day as a result of COVID-19.

The Florida Department of Health reported that the state reached its highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in a single day on Tuesday.

According to ABC affiliate WFTV9, “officials said there were an additional 133 deaths, bringing the state’s death toll to 4,514. That’s nearly four times the number of fatalities reported on Monday.”
