Right-wing pundit Tucker Carlson has revealed that a Fox News producer was ousted from the network after displaying a chyron calling Joe Biden a “wannabe dictator.” The producer, reportedly Alexander McCaskill, had been with Tucker Carlson Tonight for a long time.
The chyron in question appeared on Fox News during Donald Trump’s post-arraignment speech. It read, “Wannabe dictator speaks at the White House after having his political rival arrested,” while a split screen showed Joe Biden addressing a crowd on the White House lawn. Although the chyron was quickly taken down, it garnered attention on social media.
Fox News released a statement the next day, acknowledging the issue and stating that it was addressed promptly.
Carlson, who is currently involved in a legal dispute with Fox News following his departure, made the incident a focal point of his Twitter show, which he launched last week. He told his viewers that the network’s female executives panicked internally after the appearance and swift removal of the chyron.
Less than 24 hours later, McCaskill was forced to resign despite being regarded as one of the most competent individuals at Fox, where he had worked for over a decade. Although he offered to observe the customary two-week notice period, Fox instructed him to immediately clear his desk and depart, according to Carlson.
Fox News did not provide a comment on Carlson’s statements. Recently, the network’s legal team sent him a cease and desist letter regarding his Twitter show, as Carlson’s contractual obligations with Fox News extend until the end of 2024. One of his attorneys accused the network of attempting to “silence” him. Standard talent contracts typically include exclusivity clauses that prevent individuals from working with other media outlets.
