Gina Loudon, a prominent Christian nationalist and MAGA media figure, stirred controversy by implying that Pope Francis is now in Hell — because of his political views.
During a segment on Real America’s Voice, Loudon reacted to the Pope’s death by casting doubt on his place in Heaven, saying his “leftist” views may have cost him salvation.
She brought on former GOP congresswoman Nan Hayworth to discuss the future of the Catholic Church. Hayworth offered a respectful, if politically critical, take.
“Well, I very much appreciated Dr. Gina’s comments about what seemed to me to be a troublingly political bent on behalf of Pope Francis,” Hayworth said. “His passage obviously is a sad event for the Catholic Church, and no doubt he reposes in the arms of the Lord. But he was a confirmed leftist, basically, at least by the likes of lots of folks, including me.”
Loudon didn’t agree.
“Dr. Hayworth, you know, I don’t know if I’ve ever disagreed with you in the long, long time we’ve been in television together, but I don’t know that I am so sure about where the Pope is today,” Loudon replied. “I don’t know that holding a title necessarily ushers you into the arms of Jesus.”
She doubled down, pointing to violence against Christians around the world — something she seemed to blame on the Pope’s leadership.
“I think that babies died. Christians were slaughtered across the world,” she said. “And if you’re not in line with biblical teaching, I don’t know where you land with God in the end. I really don’t know. I think the number is few.”
She ended with a chilling conclusion: “But then again, I’m a Calvinist.”
In Loudon’s view, standing with the vulnerable may have cost the Pope his soul.
