A Middle School student in Kansas City has died after he was found stabbed inside a school bathroom Tuesday morning, The Kansas City Star reported, citing local authorities.
Officers found the young boy inside a bathroom with stab wounds and immediately began rendering first aid along with school security. Emergency medical crews responded and took the student to a hospital, a local hospital but he succumbed to his injuries, according to the report. The victim has not yet been identified.
Streets around the school were shut down in the aftermath of the incident, and students were sent home early.
A parent told the Star his seventh-grader phoned him from class to tell him about the stabbing. “I was very concerned. I know they have metal detectors but you can’t keep them safe from everything,” he was quoted saying.
A spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department said another male student has been taken into custody, but no further details were immediately available.
