As the Russian aggression on Ukraine rages on, U.S. President Joe Biden is reportedly seeking new powers to liquidate assets seized from Russian oligarchs and send the proceeds to Ukraine.
According to The Washington Post, “the Biden administration is sending a proposal to Congress, which it said was meant to ‘enhance’ the U.S. government’s ability to ‘hold the Russian government and Russian oligarchs accountable’ for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion.”
The move comes as Russia is being accused of “weaponizing energy” after Putin’s move to cut gas supply to Poland and Bulgaria as retaliation for helping Ukraine.
