Joe Biden’s transition team said on Sunday that the President-elect will be examined by a doctor after slipping and twisting his ankle. Biden’s slip occurred on Saturday while while playing with his dog Major, one of his two German Shepherds, Yahoo News reports.
The transition team said the former Vice President will be examined by an orthopedist Sunday afternoon out of an abundance of caution.
Biden, who turned 78 last week will become the oldest president inaugurated into office in U.S. history.
The Democratic nominee won a total of 306 electoral votes in a resounding victory. But President Donald Trump has refused to concede to Biden, instead promoting unfounded claims that widespread voter fraud contributed to Biden’s win.
Trump’s campaign has filed several lawsuits in different battleground states contesting the vote, with little success.
Major and Biden’s other German Shepherd, named Champ, are slated to become the first dogs in a return to tradition after the Trump family did not have a dog in the White House.
