President Joe Biden has declared he will not seek reelection amidst mounting pressure following a disastrous debate performance last month, which sparked doubts within his party about his candidacy. Biden confirmed he will complete his current term in office.
“While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President,” Biden stated in a letter shared on his official X account.
“I will address the nation later this week to provide further details about my decision,” he added.
Biden concluded his message with heartfelt gratitude: “Serving as your President has been the greatest honor of my life.”
