During a Sunday morning appearance on ABC News’ “This Week,” Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of New York, called on Congress to expedite Donald Trump’s removal from office, calling his continued influence as a “clear and present danger” to federal lawmakers as well as the American public and urged the legislative body to bar the president from pardoning himself and running for office again.

“I absolutely believe that impeachment should be scheduled for several reasons,” Ocasio-Cortez told ABC host George Stephanopoulos.

“Of, course our main priority is to ensure the removal of Donald Trump as President of the United States. Every minute and every hour that he is in office represents a clear and present danger, not just to the United States Congress but, frankly, to the country,” she said.

The progressive lawmaker underscored the gravity of last week’s uprising at Capitol Hill on Sunday, additionally pointing to Trump’s role in catalyzing the riot and said federal lawmakers are discussing ways to prohibit Trump from running for president again, or pardoning himself from impeachment charges.
