In a resounding blow to Trump’s legal brigade, John Eastman, once a key player in Trump’s 2020 election maneuverings, has been officially disbarred in California. This drastic move follows a scathing recommendation by State Bar Court Judge Yvette Roland, who wasted no time in slamming Eastman’s role in attempts to subvert the 2020 presidential election results.
Eastman, whose name became synonymous with the Trump campaign’s legal battles, now finds himself unable to practice law pending an appeal against his disbarment. His troubles stem from a litany of allegations, including his involvement in efforts to contest the certification of votes, including a direct appeal to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Not stopping there, Eastman is also accused of orchestrating the creation of fake pro-Trump elector slates and peddling baseless claims of election fraud, a narrative that reached fever pitch during the infamous January 6, 2021, rally in Washington, D.C., which spiraled into the violent Capitol insurrection.
While Roland stopped short of blaming Eastman’s rhetoric for inciting the January 6 chaos, she minced no words in denouncing his actions as “exceptionally serious ethical violations,” surpassing even the notorious misconduct of figures like Donald Segretti, who infamously worked to undermine Democrats during Richard Nixon’s reelection campaign.
Eastman’s road to redemption hinges on an appeal to the California Supreme Court. Yet, his legacy is marred beyond repair, tarnished not only by election meddling but also by his unfounded insinuations about Kamala Harris’s citizenship, casting doubt on her eligibility for the vice presidency.
However, Eastman is not alone in facing legal reckoning. With Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell also under intense scrutiny, it seems the legal fallout from Trump’s tumultuous tenure is far from over.
