A stunning backlash is erupting inside the conservative movement after Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image portraying himself as Jesus — a move many of his own supporters are now calling deeply offensive.

The image, shared Sunday on Truth Social, depicts Trump in religious robes appearing to heal a man, surrounded by patriotic imagery like American flags, eagles, and the Statue of Liberty. But instead of praise, the post triggered immediate outrage — particularly among religious conservatives who saw it as crossing a serious line.

MAGA fanatics didn’t hold back.

Conservative activist Riley Gaines questioned Trump’s judgment, writing, “Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this,” before warning that “God shall not be mocked.”

Right-wing commentator Michael Knowles also weighed in, urging Trump to delete the image, saying it would be wise “both spiritually and politically.”

Even one of Trump’s most loyal allies, Marjorie Taylor Greene, broke ranks in a rare public rebuke, calling the post disturbing and saying she was “praying against” it.

The uproar comes at a particularly volatile moment.

Just hours before posting the image, Trump had launched a fresh attack on Pope Leo XIV, criticizing the pope’s stance on foreign policy and the escalating conflict with Iran — a dispute that has already fractured parts of Trump’s base.

For many, the combination of attacking a religious leader and then sharing an image casting himself in a Christ-like role was simply too much.

The reaction highlights a rare moment of open dissent within Trump’s political orbit, as supporters who have long defended him now openly question whether he went too far.

What may have been intended as a provocative or symbolic post instead ignited a wave of condemnation — with some of Trump’s own allies labeling it “blasphemous” and demanding it be taken down.

And for once, the loudest outrage isn’t coming from his critics — but from inside his own camp.
