Trump Fires Back at MTG’s Criticism: ‘She Doesn’t Know — She’s Got Some Kind of an Act Going’

President Donald Trump on Monday responded to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after the Georgia congresswoman took a public swipe at him for focusing too much on foreign affairs. Greene’s comments came just as Trump met with Syria’s new president, Ahmad al-Sharaa — a move she said showed misplaced priorities.

“The new leader of Syria is a former Al Qaeda terrorist wanted by our government who is meeting with President Trump today at the White House on the U.S. Marine’s 250th anniversary”, Greene wrote on X.

Trump, visibly irritated by the criticism, brushed it off with a mix of disbelief and dismissal. “I don’t know what happened to Marjorie. Nice woman, but she’s lost her way,” he said from the Oval Office. “I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally. And we could have a world that’s on fire where wars come to our shores very easily.”

The president defended his record on domestic issues, pointing to what he called a landmark achievement earlier this year — the passage of the massive Republican reconciliation package dubbed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Trump said it was proof he’s been working hard for Americans at home, not just abroad.

“When somebody like Marjorie goes over and starts making statements like that, it shows she doesn’t know,” he said. “I’m surprised at her. She has some kind of an act going,” he added, before pivoting to his repeated — and widely debunked — claim that he “ended eight wars,” and taking a swipe at former President Joe Biden over the war in Ukraine.

Greene’s criticism came through a post on X, where she accused Trump of putting too much emphasis on diplomacy while neglecting the fight against rising health insurance costs. “I would really like to see nonstop meetings at the WH on domestic policy not foreign policy and foreign country’s leaders,” she wrote. “Start by hauling in the health insurance company’s executives and let’s start formulating our Republican plan to save America from Obamacare and ACA tax credits that have skyrocketed the cost of health insurance!”

The Georgia congresswoman has long been one of Trump’s most loyal defenders, often echoing his rhetoric and appearing alongside him at campaign rallies. But lately, Greene’s been carving out her own lane — one that’s occasionally at odds with GOP leadership and, increasingly, with Trump himself.

She recently stirred the pot by offering rare Republican praise for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), calling her “very impressed” with Pelosi’s “ability to get things done.” The remark stunned many on the right and drew a sharp contrast with Trump’s take.
