Tension between Donald and Melania Trump was caught on camera Tuesday night in a moment that’s now making the rounds online.
Video footage from Sky News shows the president and first lady in what appears to be a heated exchange aboard Marine One, just as the helicopter landed on the South Lawn of the White House. As reported by People, Melania is seen speaking first. Trump then leans forward and points his finger at her while she sits back, silent, shaking her head.
According to People, the two were “seated across from one another on the president’s helicopter as they touched down on the White House South Lawn after their Sept. 23 visit to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.”
The moment, though brief, speaks volumes.
After the chopper landed, AFP photographer Saul Loeb snapped a telling shot: Trump waving to the press, while Melania stared at the ground, making no effort to acknowledge the cameras or her husband.
This wasn’t the only awkward incident that day.
Earlier, the Trumps were left stranded on a non-functioning United Nations escalator. The mechanical failure forced them to walk upstairs in front of a swarm of cameras. Trump, visibly irritated by the ordeal, later complained about the mishap. The White House reportedly called for an investigation into the incident—demanding the firing of anyone responsible.
Whether or not the Marine One spat was related to the escalator debacle is unclear. But the optics of the finger-wagging, the head shaking, and the silent tension between the two were impossible to ignore.
This isn’t the first time the couple’s body language has made headlines—and if history is any guide, it probably won’t be the last.
