New Twist in Kirk Shooting: Bongino Suggests Suspected Killer Had Help at Event

In a stunning twist to the already explosive case surrounding the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino revealed during a Fox News appearance Monday that the Bureau is actively investigating a possible link between the suspected shooter and a person present at the university event where Kirk was gunned down.

The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested Friday in Utah after his father and pastor contacted authorities. The shooting occurred moments after Kirk fielded a provocative question about “transgender mass shooters” — a topic Kirk has been openly vocal about — leading many to wonder whether the question was more than just a coincidence.

Host Bill Hemmer pressed Bongino directly: “Is there any connection, at all, between the person who was asking the question about mass shooters and trans killers, or was that just a stunning coincidence when that single shot was fired?”

“Well, we’re investigating that,” Bongino confirmed. “I don’t want to say conclusively right now if there was a connection or not. Charlie was known to speak out about these issues, he was a powerful voice, it’s not terribly uncommon for him to get questions like that. However, we are looking into that. Any potential connection here will get the scrub.”

That was the moment the temperature in the studio seemed to drop. If the question was planted, or if the person who asked it was in any way connected to the shooter, it would mark a disturbing level of coordination in an already shocking attack.

Hemmer sought to clarify, asking whether the questioner was officially under investigation.

“I’m not drawing conclusions from your answer, but you’re saying it’s a possibility? Is that what I hear you saying?”

Bongino replied: “We’re looking into everything Bill, there’s not going to be a stone left unturned if there was anyone involved who aided or abetted. I can’t say that in strong enough terms: every single FBI asset on this team is being applied and used in this investigation.”

The FBI has come under fire from both sides of the aisle for its early missteps in the case — including a premature statement claiming Robinson had been taken into custody when he was, in fact, still at large. That misstep raised serious questions about the Bureau’s operational readiness and communication breakdowns.

Now, with Bongino hinting that potential accomplices — even those who simply asked a question — are under the microscope, this investigation may be headed somewhere darker than anyone anticipated.
