‘He Lost Big’: Morning Joe Piles on Elon Musk After His Million-Dollar Bet Crashes in Wisconsin

Elon Musk’s attempt to influence a Wisconsin Supreme Court race with a $26 million investment ended in defeat, leaving the hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe to poke fun at the billionaire on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, liberal judge Susan Crawford beat conservative candidate Brad Schimel by over 200,000 votes. The New York Times called the outcome a “stinging rebuke” to Musk and former President Donald Trump.

After Musk poured so much money into the race and saw his candidate lose, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough couldn’t resist making a comparison to Musk’s recent SpaceX rocket failures.

“Didn’t Elon Musk say just a couple of days ago that the fate of western civilization depended on this election if Democrats didn’t lose?” Scarborough pointed out with a sarcastic tone.

Co-host Jonathan Lemire added, “He said humanity’s future rides on that particular seat,” referring to the high stakes Musk set for the election. “He went all in, and they lost.”

Scarborough then remarked, “It’s hard to understate what a huge victory this was for them and a huge loss for Musk. He put himself out there front and center. After last night in Wisconsin, I think it’s safe to say the heat shield has melted; it didn’t hold together. Musk spent millions of dollars, handing out huge checks, but in the end, they lost big—by ten points in a race that was decided by less than one point in November.”
