MAGA supporters are up in arms after Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) called for protests against Elon Musk, accusing her of “organizing political violence and terrorism.” The backlash started after a video surfaced showing Crockett saying her birthday wish was for Musk to be “taken down.”

In the video, Crockett explained that she was advocating for “non-violent” protests, but many critics didn’t focus on that part of her message. She made the remarks during a livestream for the #TeslaTakedown group, which has been organizing protests outside Tesla dealerships.

“I am truly here for very selfish reasons, starting with on March 29, it’s my birthday and all I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down, yes!” Crockett said. “Listen, I have learned as I’ve served on the DOGE Oversight Committee that there is only one language that the people that are in charge understand right now and that language is money.”

She continued, “Make sure that if you have the ability, if there’s any legal counsel, especially when we’re talking about doing this all over the world, we want to make sure that we consult with attorneys. That is one of the things that I miss the most, is I used to always assist whenever there were protests, so that people would understand the law exactly where they were. So make sure, if you’ve got an opportunity, pull your group together, get legal counsel to advise you of where you can be, where you can’t be, how close you can be, what the signs can look like, and all those things. But obviously, no matter what, no matter where we are, we know that we are peaceful, loving people, and this is not about violence. That’s what they do when they do insurrections like on January 6. What we do is we are fighting to preserve freedom in this country for everyone, even people that don’t even realize that it’s their freedoms that are on the shopping block as well.”

Despite Crockett making it clear that her message was about peaceful protest, many of the social media posts that circulated did not include the part where she mentioned non-violence. A graphic in the video did include the call for a “non-violent protest” against Musk. The clip was first shared by Laura Loomer, who claimed it was an “exclusive,” though the full livestream can be found on YouTube. The livestream also featured filmmakers and activists like Alex Winter and John Cusack.

“Obviously, everything that I am promoting is non-violent,” Crockett insisted, encouraging people to “engage in protest.”

Still, MAGA figures like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) jumped in, accusing Crockett of promoting domestic terrorism. “A Member of Congress is organizing political violence and terrorism,” Greene wrote in a post on X, tagging Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel.

Musk himself responded briefly to the clip, saying, “Wow.”

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones took things further, declaring, “Jasmine Crockett has called for her birthday, March 29, present to be for Elon Musk to be taken down. She’s basically calling for domestic terrorism.” He compared her to Jimmy Kimmel, saying, “She knows exactly what she’s doing!”

Sara Rose, another MAGA supporter, also reacted, writing, “Jasmine Crockett asks for @elonmusk to be ‘taken down’ on her birthday. This needs to stop. If Republicans talked like this, all hell would be breaking loose.”

On X, user @ImMeme0 wrote, “Rep. Jasmine Crockett urges activists to ‘take down’ Tesla and Elon Musk for her birthday. She is actively encouraging more arson, shootings, and vandalism at Tesla dealerships.”

The accusations kept piling up. Alan Jacoby, a right-wing commenter, demanded action, tweeting, “Why is she allowed to serve on the DOGE oversight committee? @SpeakerJohnson MUST remove Crockett from this committee immediately!”

Dave Rubin called Crockett’s remarks “absolutely insensitive rhetoric” on The Rubin Report, and Kayleigh McEnany also criticized her on Fox News, calling her words “astonishing.” However, McEnany also acknowledged that Crockett “insists she was peaceful.”

Crockett’s comments come amid growing tensions around Musk’s work with DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) and former President Donald Trump. Recently, protests have turned violent in some cities, with arsonists and vandals targeting Tesla vehicles.
