Former President Donald Trump launched a furious all-caps diatribe on Truth Social Wednesday morning, condemning a gag order that restricts him from attacking witnesses in his hush-money trial. This latest outburst follows his conviction on 34 felony charges, making his ire over the order particularly explosive.

“I am proud to represent our Failing Nation in fighting THE GREATEST POLITICAL WITCH HUNT IN HISTORY,” Trump fumed. “REMOVE THE GAG ORDER SO THAT I CAN SHOW HOW CORRUPT OUR COURT SYSTEM IS. PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ARE NOT TO BE GAGGED!”

Despite Trump’s claims, he does not represent the nation in this case, which is spearheaded by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump’s vitriol against the gag order has been a recurring theme since New York Judge Juan Merchan imposed it to curb his attempts at witness intimidation.

Judge Merchan has already ruled that Trump breached the gag order on nine separate occasions, warning him that continued violations could lead to incarceration. Trump’s defiance is not new; he has previously faced sanctions for flouting similar orders in civil trials, resulting in substantial fines.

The hush-money conviction is just one piece of Trump’s legal woes. He also faces serious criminal charges for mishandling classified documents at Mar-a-Lago and for his attempts to illegally cling to power after losing the 2020 election.

Former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski cut through Trump’s bluster with a stark rebuttal: “The US is not a failing nation. What is failing is Donald Trump’s company.”
