Donald Trump, the first former U.S. president ever convicted on 34 felony counts, faced a torrent of scorn and ridicule after he declared, “A criminal is a criminal, they generally stay a criminal,” during a rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota on Saturday.

The 78-year-old ex-president, who was found guilty of falsifying business records, delivered a lengthy, rambling speech to a raucous crowd brandishing pro-police signs and anti-migrant slogans.

During his address, Trump doubled down on his attacks against Kamala Harris, labeling her a “crazy liberal” who wants to “defund the police,” contrasting himself with a vow to “overfund the police.”

“She has no clue, she’s evil,” Trump said, attacking Kamala Harris’s handling of border as vice president. “Kamala Harris’ deadly destruction of America’s borders is completely and totally disqualifying for her to be president.”

He then proclaimed, “A criminal is a criminal; they generally remain a criminal, and we don’t have time to sort it out.”

His comment sparked intense reactions on social media, with critics quick to pounce on the irony and hypocrisy.

“Donald should really reconsider his stance here,” X user @Autarkh commented.

“I see Donald Trump is doing some self reflection,” mused @DenisonBarbs.
