Far-right House Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene is facing widespread ridicule, Marjorie Taylor Greene after calling on Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to go after rapists.
The Georgia representative on Tuesday voiced her grievances against Fani Willis for prosecuting Donald Trump on racketeering charges related to the 2020 election, suggesting that Willis should shift her focus to pursuing rapists instead. (Watch the video below.)
However, to a multitude of observers on various social media platforms, it appeared that this was precisely what the Fulton County district attorney was already engaged in.
In the midst of this, Greene seemed to overlook a key aspect: Writer E. Jean Carroll accused Trump of raping her in a Manhattan department store in a lawsuit, and a jury found him liable for sexual abuse. A judge this month rejected Trump’s defamation counterclaim. In fact, the judge ruled that Carroll’s assertion of rape in a post-verdict television interview was “substantially true.”
Moreover, at least 19 women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct.
This information seemed to elude Greene, a staunch supporter of Trump, as she rambled on about Trump’s legal predicaments, particularly his fourth indictment—his second related to a plot to overturn President Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election. Notably, Greene also criticized the crime rate in Atlanta (located in Fulton County), asserting that Georgia was plagued by predators and human traffickers.
Naturally, social media users had to respond and mockery ensued.
MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan led the charge to rebut Greene, asking: “Who wants to tell her?”
“She is,” media personality and former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski wrote of Willis.
