As the nation braces for what could be an unprecedented legal and political showdown, former President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning, declaring that the country faces potential “destruction” if he were to be indicted once again.
The statement comes amid mounting reports that his legal team held a crucial meeting with Department of Justice (DOJ) officials, where indications that an imminent indictment is coming.
With a Washington D.C.’s grand jury convening to address the events of the Jan. 6 insurrection, speculations have been running rampant about the potential legal repercussions for the former commander-in-chief.
Taking to his Truth Social media platform, Trump asserted that the meeting with special counsel Jack Smith’s investigators proved “productive” while maintaining that he did nothing wrong.
“My attorneys had a productive meeting with the DOJ this morning, explaining in detail that I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, and that an Indictment of me would only further destroy our Country.”
In his frantic post, Trump also took a jab at the media, urging the public not to trust what he dubbed “Fake News” on the matter. He asserted that there was “no indication of notice” regarding the potential indictment during the meeting, further stoking the flames of doubt surrounding the reports.
He wrote: “No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything!”
