Trump Cooks Up Conspiracy Theory About Mitch McConnell Over Debt Ceiling: ‘They Have Something On Him’:

Appearing on a right-wing fringe media outlet on Thursday morning, Donald Trump called for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to be impeached, claiming that Democrats “have something on him” because the GOP leader is not using the debt ceiling leverage to shut down the government.

“It’s crazy what’s happening with this debt ceiling. Mitch McConnell keeps allowing them to have it,” Trump said before demanding McConnell be impeached while claiming that democrats “have something on him” to force him to approve the debt ceiling.

Trump’s animosity towards McConnell is well-known, but there is no reason to expect other Republican senators to make a concerted effort against him to please the former president.

McConnell has invested heavily in the Senate midterm campaign, whereas Trump has used a disproportionate share of the money he has raised for his own legal bills.

Trump’s rant against McConnell comes after the news that a former key aide, Kash Patel, is set to testify before a grand jury investigating the handling of secret documents at Mar-a-Lago after being granted immunity from prosecution.

It also comes as prosecutors reveal a message sent to Trump by the Oath Keepers leader, Stewart Rhodes, who faces seditious conspiracy charges in relation to the January 6 attack.
