GOP Senator Ripped After Admitting He’s ‘More Interested’ In Winning Elections Than Saving Children From Guns

Republican Senator Kevin Cramer, of North Dakota, is facing harsh criticism after announcing his opposition to a bipartisan gun safety bill, saying that he’s “more interested” in winning elections than reducing gun violence.

The modest legislation, which encourages —but does not mandate— states to enact red flag laws, is even supported even by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. But Cramer can care less about red flags and announced his opposition to the entire Senate bill on Tuesday afternoon.

“I think we’re more interested in the red wave than we are in red flags,” Cramer said, according to CBS News’ Scott MacFarlane.

His announcement was met with disdain from social media users who took to Twitter to express their disgust.
