Georgia GOP Official Arrested For Role In Jan 6 Attack On U.S. Capitol

A Georgia county GOP official and her husband have been arrested and are facing is facing four federal charges each for their alleged role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday afternoon.

According to the news outlet, Mandy Robinson-Hand, the chairwoman of the Taylor County Republican Party, and her husband Charles Hand III are accused of storming the Capitol alongside hundreds of other Trump supporters in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

“The evening before her March 11 arrest, Robinson-Hand advertised a political fundraiser for congressional candidate Wayne Johnson on her Facebook page,” the report said.

Federal agents identified the pro-Trump couple from tips, surveillance camera, and documentary film footage that shows showing them in the plaza by the West Terrace amid a crowd of rioters fighting with a line of Metro DC Police,” the newspaper reported.

Robinson-Hand, who worked in the Department of Education during the Trump administration and is challenging Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-GA), previously received a five-year sentence in Taylor County on drug charges. But she only served four months behind bars, according to records from the Georgia Department of Correction.
