The internet is calling for intervention for Donald Trump Jr. after the former president’s son claimed that his father’s affection toward the world’s most brutal dictators was part of an elaborate act in order to keep them under his control.
“He knew exactly how to play these guys,” Trump Jr. said in a new video posted on Twitter. “And he played it like a fiddle.”
During his presidency, Trump constantly alienated U.S. allies, such as Canada, France and Germany, while also cozying up to repressive dictators. He repeatedly praised and defended Russian President Vladimir Putin and called himself a “big fan” of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan despite the Turkish despot’s brutal crackdown on critics.
Trump even said he “fell in love” with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and claimed to have “love letters” to prove the love was mutual.
Not surprisingly, Jr.’s explanation for his father’s love for evil leaders was met with both disdain and pity. Check Trump Jr’s video and some of the responses below:
It’s Guilfoyle’s birthday, so Junior got into the party supplies early. He claims that daddy only praised Putin and Kim because he was using psychological warfare on them: “He knew exactly how to play these guys, and he played them like a fiddle!” pic.twitter.com/4otuhtECKX
