Children Of Pro-Trump Militia Member Will Testify Against Him In Jan 6-Related Trial: Report

Pro-Trump militia member Guy Reffitt, who was arrested after one of his sons tipped the FBI about his role in the Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol, will face more family drama in his upcoming trial after prosecutors confirmed in a court filing that his children will testify against him.

As noted by Law And Crime, Reffitt is linked to the Three Percenters militia group and memorably told his kids in the days after Jan. 6 that “traitors get shot” in an attempt to intimidate them into keeping silent about his participation in the attack.

His violent rhetoric became so threatening that his son Jackson Reffitt reported him to the FBI. When federal agents called him to ask if his father was at the Capitol on Jan. 6, Jackson said yes despite the threat from his dad.

“Prosecutors say Reffitt was armed when he joined the hundreds of Donald Trump supporters who overran police and breached the building in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden‘s win in the 2020 presidential election. Charges against him include obstruction of an official proceeding of Congress, obstruction of justice through physical force or threat of physical force, and entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon,” Law and Crime reported.

Reffitt’s trial is scheduled to start on Feb. 28. It will be the first case in the government’s sprawling prosecution of the Jan. 6 defendants.
