Social media users are using former president Donald Trump’s own words to make his son Eric Trump look guilty for pleading the Fifth Amendment over 500 times to avoid incriminating himself during court deposition.
On Wednesday, New York Attorney General Letitia James released a 115-page report – a legal filing – detailing “significant evidence” of possible fraud by the Trump Organization, Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump.
Jame’s office also released court documents showing that Eric Trump refused to answer every question asked to him related to the fraud investigation into the Trump organization.
Following the report, Eric Trump issued a response on Twitter, slamming the New York AG, telling Letitia James his family is “prosecuting” her, which is legally impossible. He posted a highly-edited video showing James on the campaign trail promising to investigate Donald Trump – a legitimate campaign pledge.
“Letitia you can not escape your own words,” Eric Trump posted to Twitter, along with the doctored video. “This is all window dressing for your abuse of office and ethical misconduct (which we are prosecuting you for) and northing [sic] more than a PR move to revive a political career after your gubernatorial disaster.”
James briefly ran for governor but pulled out, presumably to complete her investigation into the Trump Organization and Trump family.
Social media users wasted no time commenting on Eric Trump’s tweet. Former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski calls Eric Trump’s attack “incredibly dumb.” Others used his father’s to imply that he’s guilty.
Eric has been in full panic mode over the NY investigation, and continues to personally attack and threaten the prosecutor. Today, he says they are PROSECUTING HER, which is incredibly dumb. They filed a ridiculous lawsuit to try and stop the investigation that will be tossed. pic.twitter.com/Ek0lG8Y8XS

We have uncovered significant evidence indicating that the Trump Organization used fraudulent and misleading asset valuations on multiple properties to obtain economic benefits, including loans, insurance coverage, and tax deductions for years.

Eric, a criminal prosecution cannot be fought using a PR campaign. There's not enough here to dismiss criminal charges or an indictment by the NYAG. You should prepare yourself and your family for what comes next.
