Liz Harrington, who serves as a spokesperson for Donald Trump, sparked a social media outrage on Tuesday she tweeted a “disgusting” statement from Trump in which the former president insults former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who died Monday of C0VID-19 complications.
Powell, a decorated Vietnam veteran who served in various diplomatic, military, and national security roles under four presidents, died Monday, his family announced on a Facebook post. he was 84.
The statement posted by Harrington was riddled with insults against Powell, who twice endorsed Democratic candidates for president. Trump called Powell a “classic RINO (Republican in name only)” who “made big mistakes on Iraq” and was always “first to attack other Republicans.”
As expected, Twitter users shot back at the former president. But they also slammed Harrington for amplifying his hateful comments.
