Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is under fire for an ad she made attacking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) featuring gunshot sounds just weeks after Capitol insurrectionists targetted the Democratic leader for assassination when they stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6th.
In her ad, which she posted to Twitter (video below), Boebert calls on Pelosi to “tear down” the Capitol fencing keeping lawmakers safe from another attack — and then concludes with the sound of a gunshot followed by the sound of the gun being cocked and fired again.
That has critics of Boebert — who has made guns the central theme of her campaign — asking if she is subtly sending a message to her followers.
“What exactly are you trying to convey? The deadly insurrection was only two months ago”, wrote a Twitter user. “Why do you want to remove the perimeter around the Capitol so soon?”
Another user asked: “Why is there a sound gunshot at the end of your video? Was that a threat to Speaker Pelosi?”
Five people, including an officer from the Capitol Police Department, were among those who were killed during the 6 January attack – which was carried out by Donald Trump supporters wanting to stop Congress voting to certify the 2020 election results.
Boebert, who supported Trump’s false claims of election fraud, rejected Joe Biden’s election win when Congress returned in the hours following the riot, leading to the resignation of a member of her own staff.
The gun-totting congresswoman went on to say in Tuesday’s attack ad that Democrats wanted to “protect themselves” but not the country with the security fence – which she compared to the southern border wall built by Trump, and opposed by Democrats.
“It’s time to cut the crap and remember, this is the people’s house,” says Boebert in the video, which ends with her saying “Madam Speaker, tear down this wall!” before a shooting sound effect.

I reported it. I think the discharge and cocking of the weapon is an implied threat of violence.
It seems to violate Twitter's TOS

She was parading about like a bully and threatening Democrats…all Democrats in her video with that gun shot at the end of the video. Purely violent and I reported it to Twitter too.

Exactly! And why hadn’t Twitter at least put her in a time out if not banned. If I called her a *b I would be suspended, but she can threaten Pelosi & Democrats with a gun shot & reloading & reloading & Twitter does nothing? Please Report #LaurenBoebert @RepBoebert @FBIWFO

Why are these Representatives creating videos that make them look like Instagram influencers? Are they in Congress or trying to make a buck on YouTube?

God help us all! Why aren't these people being investigated? Please do your jobs and remove them from their political positions of power, at the very least. Please…

Boebert herself is unnecessary and inappropriate so that sums it up pretty well.
