A Tennessee man has been arrested after stabbing a man and then attacking Police officers with a baseball bat during a violent rampage over his refusal to wear a face mask.

Metro Nashville Police say that a man named Jerry Cowan got into a dispute over wearing a face mask with a resident at a Nashville apartment complex on Sunday morning. The argument eventually turned violent, and Cowan allegedly stabbed the resident in the arm using a “long blade with a makeshift wooden handle,” local news station WKRN reports.

After police arrived on the scene, the officers heard yelling and general commotion coming from inside Cowan’s apartment.

“Cowan could be heard on the other side of the door yelling that officers would have to kill them and he was not going to come out. A woman was inside the residence as well. She was yelling at Cowan to calm down,” according to the station.

The officers then kicked open Cowan’s door and found him swinging two baseball bats at them. They eventually subdued Cowan using taser guns, took him into custody, and slapped him with multiple assault charges.
