Former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe was fired in 2018 just hours before his retirement after taking over James Comey.

McCabe filed a lawsuit against the Justice Department after his departure, alleging that his firing was retaliation after improper political interference by President Donald Trump.

“It was Trump’s unconstitutional plan and scheme to discredit and remove DOJ and FBI employees who were deemed to be his partisan opponents because they were not politically loyal to him,” the complaint alleges.

Attorney General Bill Barr tried to dismiss the lawsuit via a court, but his attempts were shot down on Thursday.

McCabe’s lawsuit will continue to move forward.
