In a fiery exchange on Piers Morgan’s show, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin erupted in anger during a debate with ex-MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan, who fiercely challenged her portrayal of herself and the MAGA movement as “anti-war.” Hasan pressed Palin on her past, questioning her decision to run alongside John McCain in 2008, a choice he argued aligned her with one of the most aggressive proponents of military intervention in recent history.
“Why did you run with John McCain?” Hasan demanded, asserting that a McCain presidency would have escalated U.S. involvement in conflicts abroad.
“You don’t know that!” Palin shot back, visibly rattled.
“McCain literally said, ‘bomb, bomb, bomb Iran’,” Hasan countered, pointing out the contradiction in Palin’s current stance. “I’m just saying, because you say you’re against war abroad, and yet, I just want to remind everyone, you ran with the most warmongering senator in my lifetime. I know why you ran, you wanted power. I’m just saying you’re not consistent.”
Palin attempted to pivot the discussion to energy production, claiming Biden was hindering exploration and pipeline construction. Hasan interjected with facts, reminding her that U.S. oil production has reached record levels under Biden. “Do you know he handed out more licenses than Trump?” he pressed, as tensions escalated.
“No! I’m saying that on day one, what the Biden administration did was halt so much of our exploration and construction of pipelines,” said Palin, as Hasan attempted to make his point. In a moment of exasperation, Palin shouted, “You lie! You’re a liar, you lie!”
But Hasan wasn’t fazed.
“Do you know he handed out more licenses than Trump? Did you know that?” said Hasan. “Destiny just said energy’s higher, and you said no. So if anyone lied, you did.”
“You’re an obnoxious ass! yelled Palin. “You lie! You’re a liar.”
