Amy Thorn, also known as Amy Ford, was honored at the Republican National Convention back in August for traveling to New York to treat coronavirus patients. Now, two months after the event, she faces charges after shooting a woman in the stomach after an argument, according to WCHS.
Thorn, who also spoke at the RNC, claimed she was acting in self-defense, according to Williamson Police Chief Grady Dotson. “She went to the car and got the gun out of the car,” Dotson said.
The victim, Jonda Whitt, reportedly does not have any life-threatening injuries.
Thorn has been charged with malicious wounding and released on a $5,000 bond.
