The Wisconsin Supreme Court has suspended Judge Hannah Dugan after she was accused of helping a man avoid immigration authorities.
On Friday morning, FBI agents arrested Dugan at the Milwaukee County courthouse. She is facing federal charges for concealing someone to stop his arrest and for obstructing or impeding a legal process.
On Tuesday, the state Supreme Court issued a brief two-page order, stating that Dugan is facing two federal charges. The court said her suspension is necessary for the public interest while the case unfolds.
Democrats have criticized the Trump administration, accusing it of attempting to intimidate the nation’s judiciary.
Dugan’s lawyer did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
