In Wisconsin, a pregnant school bus driver successfully evacuated 37 students moments before the bus became engulfed in flames. The incident occurred as the bus was nearing its destination at the Milwaukee Academy of Science.
Imunek Williams, the driver, detected a burning odor while driving the bus for two hours, initially assuming it originated from another vehicle. However, as the smell and smoke grew thicker, Williams made the swift decision to evacuate the students, ensuring their safety by directing them to line up near a gate, local station WAOW reports. S
Shortly after evacuating, Williams witnessed the bus erupting into flames. Firefighters promptly extinguished the fire. As a precautionary measure, Williams, who is expecting a child in August, was taken to the hospital.
Williams expressed relief that all the students were unharmed, emphasizing that her primary concern was their safety, as she would expect from any bus driver in a similar situation.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
