Reporters tried to press Donald Trump for answers Thursday after Elon Musk dropped a bombshell on social media—accusing the president of being in the sealed Jeffrey Epstein files. But just as the questions started flying, the White House feed cut the sound.
It happened during Trump’s first public appearance since his very public feud with Musk exploded. The event, a roundtable with the Fraternal Order of Police, was held in the White House State Dining Room. As it wrapped up, reporters shouted questions at Trump, including a direct one about Musk’s claim. The video kept rolling. But the audio? Dead silence.
Just moments earlier, Musk posted this on X: “@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
The post came after days of rising tension between the two. Musk had already called Trump’s immigration plan a “disgusting abomination.” Trump hit back from the Oval Office. But this latest shot from Musk took it to a whole new level.
At the event, Trump ended the session by saying: “We’re going to have a little discussion now, very private, and I just want to thank you all for being here. And thank you very much, media. I appreciate it. Thank you very much.”
Aides tried to usher the press out with “Thanks, press!” But one reporter managed to shout:
“Mr. President, how do you respond to Elon Musk — his claim about the Epstein file?”
Trump didn’t answer. He kept shaking hands and smiling:
“Nice to see you. Nice to see you.”
Another reporter tried to ask Attorney General Pam Bondi a question. Then the mics were cut.
The White House official live stream silenced the exchange before it even began. Video feeds picked up part of the moment, but the audio was gone within seconds.
Trump’s face was still on camera—but what he thought of Musk’s claim remained unclear. His expression, caught in silence, left more questions than answers.
No official response has been given so far.
