Donald Trump, bruised and visibly worn, is now floating a new claim: he might live to 200—at least according to one of his most controversial allies.
Speaking Friday at a ceremony honoring the U.S. Naval Academy football team, the 79-year-old president veered from talk of war with Iran and political jabs at former presidents the media into something far more surreal—a health boast tied to former White House doctor Ronny Jackson.
Trump pointed out Jackson in the crowd and recalled a past moment when the physician—who later became a congressman—was asked to compare the health of three presidents he served: George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Trump himself.
The answer, according to Trump, was definitive.
“He said. ‘President Donald J Trump by far. If he didn’t eat junk food, he’d live to 200 years old,’” Trump claimed. “And I love this guy.”
That’s the pitch: a fast-food-loving, nearly 80-year-old president with visible health issues could somehow double the human lifespan.
The comment didn’t come in a vacuum. Trump delivered it while still showing signs of physical strain. His bruised hand—partially covered with makeup—was visible during the event and had been spotted the night before as well.
The White House has repeatedly attributed the bruising to frequent handshaking and a daily aspirin regimen. But it’s been a recurring issue for more than a year, raising ongoing questions.
Trump has also been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a circulatory condition common in older adults that can cause swelling in the legs.
Still, none of that stopped the president from doubling down on the idea that he’s in peak condition.
Jackson, the man behind the “live to 200” claim, has his own history. His nomination to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs collapsed after allegations from nearly two dozen colleagues accused him of drinking on the job, overprescribing medication, and fostering a hostile workplace.
He denied the accusations at the time, but the nomination never recovered.
