In a jarring segment on Fox News, Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet made a stunning claim: he suggested that late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel is somehow connected to a shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas that left three detainees injured and the shooter dead.
Speaking with host Bill Hemmer, Kolvet pivoted from a question about Kimmel’s return to television and instead launched into a politically charged theory that connected the comedian to recent acts of violence — including the fatal shooting of Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk.
“I see everything as being connected, this shooting at an ICE facility,” Kolvet said. “Yeah, we don’t know all the details yet. I made some calls before and before coming on with you, and I’m being told that, you know, the thought is he would, this person was attacking ICE.”
The identity and motive of the shooter had not been released at the time of Kolvet’s comments. Still, he continued tying Kimmel to a broader cultural narrative, accusing the comedian of helping foster an environment that dehumanizes conservatives.
“Somebody like Jimmy Kimmel says that the shooter was, of Charlie, was MAGA,” Kolvet added. “What he’s really saying is that it’s okay to lie about conservatives, that their lives don’t matter, that his agenda, his political agenda, and cultural agenda is more important than the life of my friend who was just taken from us and robbed from us.”
Kolvet went on to claim that Kimmel’s rhetoric — and the media ecosystem around him — plays a role in encouraging violence against political opponents.
“You see this with Charlie Kirk, now you see it with this ICE facility, it’s not okay. And when people like Jimmy Kimmel skirt the truth, when they refuse to take accountability for their actions, then that sends a signal that there’s a whole institutional machinery apparatus that’s prepared to defend these evildoers.”
At the time of this writing, law enforcement has not confirmed the shooter’s identity or motive.
Kimmel has not responded publicly to Kolvet’s claims.
