In a searing new video from President Biden’s reelection campaign, three veterans fiercely criticize former President Trump as a “draft dodger,” declaring him unfit to serve as commander in chief. The ad, released on the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, features Marine Corps veteran Curtis Register, Army veteran Ed McCabe, and Navy veteran Matthew McLaughlin.
The minute-long video aims to draw a sharp contrast between Trump, accused of belittling veterans and shirking accountability, and Biden, portrayed as a steadfast supporter of the military. “A good commander in chief is somebody who gives a s‑‑‑,” Register bluntly states.
“Donald Trump has zero accountability in his life,” McLaughlin charges, while McCabe unequivocally labels Trump “a draft dodger.”
The Biden campaign underscores Trump’s controversial past remarks, where he reportedly called American veterans buried in France “losers” and “suckers” and mocked Vietnam War POW and former Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). Although Trump has denied these comments, they were later confirmed by his ex-chief of staff, John Kelly.
Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), a retired Army National Guard lieutenant colonel and Biden campaign national advisory board member, delivers a scathing indictment: “From draft dodging to threatening veterans’ benefits to parroting dictators, it’s clear Donald Trump doesn’t care about those who have served our country. He doesn’t understand their sacrifice or the values they vowed to protect.”
“The choice in this election is stark,” Duckworth continues. “Donald Trump’s blatant disrespect for our service members stands in sharp contrast to President Biden – a military father who champions our troops and their families, delivering historic expansions in healthcare and benefits for veterans.”
On the D-Day anniversary, Biden is in Normandy, France, urging Americans to value international alliances amid global tensions, a direct rebuke to Trump’s America First policies. Biden also met with numerous veterans, including D-Day survivors, lauding them as the “greatest generation” who “saved the world.”
