US Capitol On Lockdown After ‘Critical Incident’ — Suspect Is In Custody

The US Capitol is on lockdown after someone rammed a barricade and exited the vehicle holding a knife, police said. The suspect was shot and taken into custody, US Capitol Police tweeted Friday.

An announcement made over the PA system told everyone to stay indoors, and away from windows. The order came following reports of a vehicle ramming into officers. A suspect is in custody, US Capitol Police tweeted Friday.

“USCP is responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into two USCP officers. A suspect is in custody. Both officers are injured. All three have been transported to the hospital,” the tweet said.

The two Capitol Police officers were injured and taken to the hospital, police said.
