A Southern California couple, who had been married for 25 years, died of COVID within hours of each other, days after testing positive. They were unvaccinated, local station KNBC reported Thursday.
According to the news outlet, Alvaro, 44, and Sylvia Fernandez, 42, had been together since high school and married for 25 years. The couple had four children.
Although Alvaro had diabetes and other health problems, he had not been vaccinated against the deadly virus. “He wanted to wait and do more research,” his sister, Alma Hernandez, told the NBC affiliate.
“He Googled information. He didn’t want to believe everything that was on the news… This is kind of an eye opener for everybody in my family that whoever is not vaccinated definitely should have their vaccinations.”
