A pregnant woman and her baby have died after Russian forces bombed the maternity hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine, where she was meant to give birth, The Associated Press reports.
Pictures and video shared online show rescuers quickly rushing through the debris to get the woman to another hospital. She was seen on a stretcher as she stroked her lower abdomen.
Medics at the hospital told the AP that the woman had a crushed pelvis and a hip detachment. The doctors delivered the baby via cesarean section, but unfortunately, the baby showed “no signs of life,” he said. Moments later the mother died as a result of her injuries.
The news comes as Russian atrocities in Ukraine continue unabated, including attacking humanity’s most innocent.
