In a bizarre escalation of political rhetoric, former President Donald Trump has demanded that Vice President Kamala Harris retract statements about her past employment at McDonald’s.
“Kamala should take down and disavow all of her Statements that she worked for McDonald’s. ” Trump declared on Truth Social. “These Statements go back a long way, and were also used openly throughout the Campaign — UNTIL SHE GOT CAUGHT. She must apologize to the American people for lying!”
The vice president has mentioned her brief summer job at the fast-food chain during her college years since rising to prominence as the Democratic party’s nominee. And, for some reason, it appears to have gotten under Trump’s skin.
Trump’s obsession with this claim appears to stem from a perceived threat, as he has repeatedly accused Harris of fabricating her work history, despite a lack of evidence.
The former president first made this allegation during his speech at the Moms for Liberty convention on August 30, stating, “She also said, ‘I worked at McDonald’s.’ Turned out she didn’t work there.” He added, “After an exhaustive study that took about 20 minutes, they found out she never worked there,” a remark that drew laughter from the audience but has yet to be substantiated.
Trump’s unfounded assertions have raised eyebrows for their focus on a seemingly innocuous topic. Harris’s brief job at McDonald’s has been framed as a testament to her work ethic, contrasting sharply with Trump’s claims and highlighting the ongoing tensions in the race for the presidency.
