Trump’s Election Day Meltdown: ‘Jew Hater’ Slur, Cheney Backlash, and a ‘Morning Joe’ Blowup

President Donald Trump woke up Tuesday morning doing what he does best — watching TV, rage-posting online, and picking fights with anyone in his path. The 79-year-old president started his day with a furious Truth Social tirade after catching a Morning Joe segment that hit all his sore spots: Dick Cheney, MSNBC, and Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani.

The blowup came after Mamdani appeared on the show ahead of Election Day. Joe Scarborough, in classic form, couldn’t resist taking a jab, introducing the candidate with a smirk: “The communist joins us now.” The remark echoed Trump’s own online taunts, which have repeatedly branded Mamdani a radical leftist.

Mamdani, never one to duck a fight, fired back immediately. “I say, there are reasons you might not want to vote for me, but let’s be honest about my politics. I’m a democratic socialist. No matter how many times President Trump calls me otherwise.”

The exchange came during a packed segment that also reflected on the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney. The hosts praised Cheney as one of the few Republicans who “kept his bearings” during Trump’s rise and refused to follow the MAGA movement down its darker paths.

Scarborough, who often frames his political career in acts, said Cheney’s final chapter was defined by his opposition to Trump. “Of course, one of these Republicans, you know, was seen as a defender of democracy. When so many others lost their way, Dick Cheney kept his bearings after January the 6th, always kept his bearings when it came to Democratic norms,” he said. “And he was on the right side. I think most certainly Republicans from my era would believe, and I think we all should be grateful to him for that.”

Co-host Willie Geist jumped in to remind viewers: “One of his last public acts was about a year ago, when he put out a statement saying, I’m going to be voting for Kamala Harris in this presidential election.”

“Dick Cheney, Darth Vader, as you said, the face of the Republican Party in many ways in the Bush years,” Geist continued. “Said Donald Trump can never be trusted with power again, appearing with his daughter, Liz Cheney, of course, who was one of the most outspoken voices against the Trump administration.”

That was apparently too much for Trump to take. Just hours later, he fired off a Truth Social post that hit all his familiar notes — the wounded pride, the TV obsession, and the fixation on ratings:

“Wow! Joe Scarborough’s Television Ratings are really bad. They have gone, as they say, ‘down the tubes,’ as has the rest of MSNBC. It’s a beautiful thing to watch! President DJT.”

It was classic Trump — mock the ratings, declare victory, and remind the world he’s still glued to the morning news. But the outburst also revealed how deep the Morning Joe crew still lives in his head rent-free.

Mamdani, too, seems to have struck a nerve. The 34-year-old Democrat, a self-described democratic socialist, has become one of Trump’s favorite new villains. The president has gone after him repeatedly since his mayoral campaign launched, often in language that veers into the ugly.

At a White House dinner with tech CEOs back in September, Trump told reporters he “doesn’t like to see a communist become mayor.” He’s repeated the line so many times it’s practically a campaign slogan.

But Tuesday’s rant went even further. Trump attacked Mamdani as a “Jew hater” and turned his fire on Jewish voters who support him.

“Any Jewish person that votes for Zohran Mamdani, a proven and self professed JEW HATER, is a stupid person!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

The outburst added another chaotic twist to Election Day — part of Trump’s long-running war against both cable news and anyone who challenges his version of America.

In the end, it wasn’t just Mamdani or Morning Joe that got under his skin. It was the mention of Dick Cheney — the ultimate Republican establishment figure who spent his final years warning that Trump “can never be trusted with power again.”
