In an apparent attempt to scare suburban women into supporting him, President Donald Trump on Friday fired off a tweet blasting the increasing calls to defund the police in the wake of George Floyd’s murder by a Muneappolis Poice officer.
Sinking in the polls over his disastrous response to both coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide protests in support of “Black Lives Matter,” Trump decided to use fear to rally suburban women. It totally backfired.
“Do you think Suburban Women want to Defund the Police? I don’t think so,” Trump tweeted, quoting @marcthiessen. It didn’t go well as women immediately flooded his twitter feed with negative responses:

What they REALLY don't want to do is vote for a racist, which is why your numbers are tanking among these voters. They are looking for decency and order. You provide neither. You will lose this group by > 20 points.

So it's fine to defund #FoodStamps, #education, #housing, affordable #HealthCare (#ACA, #Medicare), and other safety net programs
BUT, when #Policing is broken by #racism & by violent tactics, by all means, keep spending
You are a racist, weak, incompetent relic

This suburban woman wants police departments to be partially defunded and totally restructured si they not deal with crimes. Social needs should be addressed by people who have the necessary skills.
— Laura (@LauraTheBuckeye) June 12, 2020
This suburban white woman definitely agrees with what “defund the police” stands for. We definitely need to demilitarize our police. We definitely need to hold them accountable. We definitely need a whole lot of change in this country. We need to focus more on education as well.
— Christine Wallick (@bakergeek) June 12, 2020
We want to divert funds to help homeless, the drug crisis, and aid communities so police don't have to. It makes everyone safer including the police and they don't have to do work that takes them away from their real job.
