In a rambling interview on Fox & Friends, former President Donald Trump launched a broadside against Vice President Kamala Harris and her new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Trump called Walz a “communist” and Harris “nasty,” while asserting that their newly announced ticket is unprecedentedly radical.
Harris and Walz began their campaign tour on Wednesday with stops in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Detroit, Michigan, following a high-energy rally in Philadelphia the previous night. Addressing a 12,000-strong crowd at Temple University, Harris highlighted Walz’s background and his accomplishments, including free school lunches and abortion rights protections.
Walz’s speech aimed to inject positivity into politics while also targeting the GOP. He mocked Trump and JD Vance as “weird as hell” and accused them of lying about their connections to Project 2025.
Trump, however, criticized Walz sharply, describing him as “a very liberal man and a shocking pick.” He added, “He’s a smarter version of her, if you want to know the truth.”

Reiterating his point, Trump claimed, “He’s basically Bernie Sanders, no he’s greater than Bernie Sanders.
He then accused the ticket of seeking to push the country towards communism, stating, “This is a ticket that wants this country to go communist immediately if not sooner. ‘We want no security, we want no anything.’ He’s very into transgender, anything transgender he thinks is great. And [Walz] is not where the country is on anything.”
Trump also criticized the absence of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro from the ticket, claiming it is an affront to Jewish voters and asserting, “I think that any Jewish person who votes for a Democrat should have their head examined.”
