Trump Sues Bob Woodward Over Interview Tapes As Manhattan DA Impanels Grand Jury In Criminal Probe

Former president Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against journalist Bob Woodward for releasing his interview recordings to the public, claiming that he didn’t give him permission to use them for an audiobook.

Trump contends in the lawsuit, filed in federal court in Florida, that he consented to be recorded for a series of interviews but only for a book Woodward was working on and not to the release of the audio recordings for other reasons.

The “Trump Tapes” were released in October and include 20 interviews Woodward conducted with Trump from his time as president and as a candidate.

In his lawsuit, Trump accuses Woodward of “systematic usurpation, manipulation, and exploitation of audio of President Trump gathered in connection with a series of interviews.”

The complaint comes as Trump faces yet another criminal investigation, this time at the hands of the Manhattan district attorney’s office, over his hush payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

According to The New York Times, the office has impaneled a grand jury and will soon begin presenting evidence that crimes were committed when Donald Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen paid hush money to Daniels in 2016.
